I took a walk around Denver Sluice on Sunday. It's the first time I've been there for a year or two, and I remembered how much I like the place.
The whole area is like an alien landscape, with the huge metal structures rising out of the flat horizon, and the endless, enormous earthworks to channel the water.
It was a very breezy day that blew away the cobwebs beautifully. On my return to the car park I stood and watched as a couple of small boats navigated the lock, with the help of the on-duty lock-keeper.
And there were plenty of interesting animal tracks as well. Great fun! Afterwards I enjoyed an orange juice at the Jenyns Arms pub. Recommended.
