Help For Heroes Day

A week or so ago there was a Help For Heroes fundraising day in The Walks. Of course we went along to investigate. It was a jolly occasion with the usual inflatables, stalls, emergency vehicles, all to be expected at such affairs. The inter-company It's A Knockout was especially good fun, but Sam most enjoyed the climbing wall, which you can see him starting on below.

The boy was like some weird cross between a monkey and Chris Bonnington!

He was halfway up before you could say Jack Robinson.

Hardly pausing for a rest he headed onwards and upwards, passing a hapless, stuck, child on the way.

Sam reached the top in double-quick time, amazing both me and the activity leaders.

He seemed to have a natural gift for the climbing thing. And also, apparently, for abseiling back down!
